Luxury BBQ Event Catering: A Scottish-Inspired Feast
A Bespoke Feast at Midhope Castle
Midhope Castle provided the backdrop for an unforgettable evening of Scottish food, fire, and hospitality. Working alongside Alex from Green Gannet, FieldFireFork helped deliver a bespoke event catering experience that paired live-fire cooking with one of Scotland's most iconic historic locations.
Guests were welcomed to the Outlander filming location for an exclusive after-hours experience, before gathering around long communal tables to enjoy a fire-cooked feast celebrating the very best of Scotland's seasonal produce.
The Experience
The evening began with private access to Midhope Castle and its historic grounds, allowing guests to explore the iconic location long after the daytime visitors had left.
A signature Sassenach Spirit cocktail and a selection of Scottish-inspired canapés welcomed guests as they explored the castle, learned more about its history, and discovered its connection to the Outlander series.
As the evening unfolded, the experience moved to the estate's atmospheric barn, where long communal tables were laid for a relaxed banquet-style dinner.
Designed to encourage conversation and connection, the setting provided the perfect backdrop for a menu inspired by Scotland's landscapes, seasons, and exceptional local produce.
On The Menu
Cooking over fire was at the heart of the evening. Every dish celebrated carefully sourced Scottish ingredients, combining traditional flavours with modern techniques to create a menu that was both generous and refined.
Guests enjoyed a selection of Scottish-inspired canapés before moving into a menu featuring whisky-cured salmon, smoked Chicken Balmoral, and reverse-seared Scottish venison cooked over hot coals. Seasonal vegetables, barbecue-roasted accompaniments, and a modern take on Scotland's classic cranachan completed a feast that reflected the depth and quality of Scotland's natural larder.
More than simply a meal, the menu was designed to bring people together. Sharing platters, open-fire cooking, and carefully balanced flavours created an experience that felt relaxed, memorable, and unmistakably Scottish.
